Fashion Forward and Festive

Look what I made last night!

I used the pattern found on the Lion Brand site. The pattern was really easy-- worked totally in the round. This was also my first attempt at felting. It did not turn out, sadly. The handles worked out fine but the bag itself still has very pronounced stitches and the gaps that come with crochet.

Here is what I did: I used Lion Brand Wool Ease (80% Acrylic, 20% Wool) as the pattern called for. Unlike indicated by the pattern, I used two strands for the ensure project because I was worried about the bag's stability (I wanted to use it as a handbag for the week). I washed the individual pieces in detergent and warm/hot water with a load of towels (to help agitate the yarn). I placed the crochet pieces in the dryer and pulled them out a little early so they were still slightly damp. I then placed the bag on top of a water bottle to allow it to complete air drying. Anyone know what went wrong?

Oh my goodness am I THRILLED I have found your blog :-)

Although I have been a 'fringe blogger' for a while now I am only recently in the slightly addicted phase and have spent ages mooching around blogs trying to find someone else who loves bunnies... and I found you! Hooray! (Followed a comment on Little Brown Rabbit's blog)

I can't tell you how I smiled when I scrolled down your blog and saw Emmett in his little hat! (What a lovely name he has by the way).

My bunny is called Humphrey and there are some pics on my blog if you are interested.

Anyway, I'll sign up to follow you.. :-)

Love Charlotte

I think you need a higher percentage of wool in the yarn. When I felt (needle felt or wet felt) I try to use 100% wool because I found that it doesn't shrink and firms like I want it to when its a lower percentage. good luck for your next try!!
